Campus Updates: November 13 – November 19

Birnham Woods Elementary
The library will host the Fall Scholastic book fair November 14 -18.

Monday, November 14 starts Generation Texas Week.


Buckalew Elementary
This is a very busy time of the year for all of us at our school. All week we will be celebrating Generation Texas Week. One Key to success is to get the best education you can.
Our activities include learning about careers, college, opportunities other than college, preparing for the next steps in education and how we are going to pay for higher education.

The second grade Poetry Feast will take place from November 15-17. Please check your student’s scheduled time and place.

On Thursday, November 17 the third grade Thanksgiving is celebrated with all third grades.

The Turkey Trot is all day November 18 as is the first grade Thanksgiving. Also on this date Carolyn Burnett, author, will visit the fourth grade.

Congratulations to The Keys for Success Winners for the week of October 31. Those students receiving the “Principal’s Medallion” are: Henry Bachrock, Ellie La Tour, Charolett Smith, Wyatt Graham and Alexia Ramirez.


Bush Elementary
November 14-18 we will celebrate Generation Texas Week. Details will be coming home soon.

On Tuesday, November 15, progress reports will go home.

On November 16, we will have faculty, class pictures, as well as retakes.

On Thursday, November 17, Author Jim Aviesworth will visit our school and speak to kindergarten – second grade. The kindergarten Thanksgiving Feast will be held at noon, with kindergarten Open House following at 1 p.m.

On Friday, November 18, first grade will go on a field trip to Jones State Forest.
Collins Intermediate
Students will celebrate Generation Texas during the week of November 14. During this week students will hear about their future career choices.

Tuesday, November 15, Coach Henry and Coach Raymer will host Collins first Turkey Trot during P.E. this will be a fun run/walk 1 mile activity for the students.

Thursday, November 27, Cobra Council will have a meeting in the library at 8 a.m.

We hope that everyone has a safe and wonderful Thanksgiving Break with their family and friends.
Creighton Elementary
Generation Texas Week is November 14-18. We will encourage all students to pursue education beyond high school. The future depends on our student’s success. More education means more options!

Progress Reports go home on November 16.

Friday, November 21, students will participate in a Turkey Trot Fun Run during their physical education class. One student from each grade level will win a turkey voucher from HEB for a free turkey.


Galatas Elementary
November 14-18 is Generation Texas week. Students will learn about the steps that they can take to be ready for college and careers as they continue their education.


Giesinger Elementary
The PTO sponsored event, Thankful Chains, will continue this week. Thankful Chain Reward Day will be on Friday, November 18, and the student who contributed the most will be recognized.

This week is Generation Texas Week. Students will be encouraged to think about their future and their journeys toward college and career education.

Progress Reports will be sent home Tuesday, November 15.

Author, H.J. Ralles, will on campus November 17 to present to fourth graders. Mrs. Ralles will discuss useful tips and strategies for expository writing.


Hailey Elementary
Attendance counts for every child every day. Congratulations to Mrs. Potempa’s class on achieving 10 Attendance Rockets for the whole class being on time and staying at school all day!

CISD will be celebrating Generation Texas week November 14-18. Generation Texas encourages all students to pursue education beyond high school in order to train for meaningful careers. During this week, we emphasize the wonderful possibilities for your child’s future.
Our school’s Generation Texas week schedule is as follows. Monday, November 14, students are encouraged to wear Hailey, Wilkerson or Knox t-shirts as they explore the schools immediately ahead of us. Tuesday, November 15, students are encouraged to wear a College Park High School t-shirt or school colors (navy blue, dark green and white) as they will learn about opportunities ahead at College Park High School. Wednesday, November 16 is College Day. Students and staff will celebrate our nation’s colleges and universities by wearing college t-shirts, learning about where our staff members attended college, and talking about the opportunities ahead at junior colleges and universities. Thursday, November 17 is Military Day and Trade School Day, where students will learn about many different kinds of jobs available through advanced education and military service after high school. Students are encouraged to dress in red, white and blue to honor our nation’s heroes and workforce. Friday, November 18 is Career Day where students are encouraged to dress up as their chosen career. We have high expectations for your children and we believe in their successful future.
Wednesday, November 16, the third grade classes will present the annual Wax Museum. Each student selects a famous American and researches his/her life. The students then dress up as the person and give a short speech about the major events in the person’s life. Parents and the other grade levels will tour the museum and experience living history.

The fourth grade music program, honoring our military service men and women and veterans, will be presented Thursday, November 17, at 6 p.m. in the Hailey cafeteria. Fourth graders should report to the music room at 5:40 p.m. to prepare for the program. Please invite neighbors and friends to attend this meaningful patriotic event.
CISD observes Thanksgiving holidays November 21-25. All schools will be closed this week.
Students can bring aluminum cans, foil, pans, and aluminum computer parts for recycling every Friday morning for our Cash for Cans program, which also helps support our school. Please deliver recyclables to the front porch when arriving at school.
Mitchell Intermediate
Every year the sixth grade Ambassadors have a great opportunity to participate in one of our community service projects. We collect food items at school and then fill boxes that will feed 50 families in the Travis Intermediate School area. The Ambassadors will travel to Travis Intermediate on Monday, November 14. It is a wonderful experience for the students, and the families that receive the boxes are so appreciative. Each LC collects a certain traditional Thanksgiving food item. Thank you so much to our Mitchell families for helping in this project.

Congratulations to our 2016-2017 Mitchell recipients of the Conroe ISD “Ambassador of the Year” Award: Amy Hickman, Teacher, Clayton Hirsekorn, sixth grader, and Stephy Eldridge, P.E. Paraprofessional. They make a difference at Mitchell and make it a better place.

Second Quarter Progress Reports will be distributed on Tuesday, November 15.

The sixth grade students will take a Science Benchmark on Tuesday, November 15.

On Tuesday, November 15, LC 10 will take a field trip to Spring Creek Nature Centers sponsored by our Parent Teacher Organization.

The Mitchell fifth graders, who achieved the Main Event prize for the Parent Teacher Organization fundraiser, will go to Main Event on Wednesday, November 16.

The fifth grade students will take the Science Benchmark on Thursday, November 17.

The Mitchell sixth graders, who achieved the Sky Zone prize for the Parent Teacher Organization fundraiser, will go to Sky Zone on Thursday, November 17.

LC 5 students will present their Wax Museum projects on Thursday, November 17 at 7 p.m. in the Mitchell Commons.

Mitchell will conduct a Severe Weather/Lockdown drill on Friday, November 18.

The fifth grade Fundraiser Recess/DJ Celebration prize will be held on Friday, November 18 at 1:30 p.m.

The sixth grade Fundraiser Recess/DJ Celebration prize will be held on Friday, November 18 at 2:30 p.m.


Rice Elementary
Friday, November 11 Rice will host a Family Game Night from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The week of Monday, November 14 Rice will recognize Generation Texas Week.

Tuesday, November 15 class pictures will be taken.

Junior Achievement will make presentations in our second grade classrooms on Wednesday, November 16.

Rice third and fourth graders will be going on field trips on Thursday, November 17.

Career day will be held on Friday, November 18.

Friday, November 18 our Pre K students will have their annual Pow Wow.

Students will be off the week on November 21 for Thanksgiving.

Friday, December 2 Rice Way Pep Rallies will be held.

Rice fourth grade students will present their music program on Friday, December 9 at 9 a.m.

Saturday, December 10 will be our Rice CYCLE Reading Incentive delivery day.

Our third grade GT students will have an expo in the library on Monday, December 12.

Polar Express Day will be Thursday, December 15.

Thursday, December 15 our third graders will host their culture fair in the library.

Holiday desserts will be enjoyed by each class on Friday, December 16.
Snyder Elementary

Tough Elementary
Congratulations to the Coulson Tough sixth grade Solo Contest participants. All twelve students received a First Division Superior rating. The students were: Colleen Brown, Abbey Busic, Debbie Chu, Ellie Jo Custer, Riley Ellis, Annabel Fish, Avery Joseph, Mariana Mena, Nikita Nair, Gianna Purser, Sofia Skinner and Morgan Tison.

The Coulson Tough book fair will take place November 14 through November 17. Grandparents Day will be November 16 and the bookfair will be open the evening of November 17. This is a great opportunity to buy some holiday gifts.


Travis Intermediate

Sixth grade students will have clubs on Friday, November 18.
Thanksgiving holidays will be observed November 21-25. We hope all our Timberwolf families have a safe and restful break.
