Campus Updates: November 20 – 26

Broadway Elementary
The following students received a Principal High Five: Olivia Speringo, Briahnna Martinez, Carter Charrier, Elan Bolton, Amelia Chandler, Trey Boatman, Jensen O’Hara, Parker Grabowski, Sydney Flinn, Jace Vercher, Hallee Payne, Riley Flinn and Jackson Wahkahquah, Logan Moran Kg, Cooper Tyler, Nelley Oak, Kaycee Tyner, Ashley Bever, Hudson Bridwell, Elias Myers, Micah Philip, Skylar Patlow, Kate Seager, Addison Turner, Sultan Wallace, Croix Scogin, Jyden Jelks, Adam Eid and Roy McClain.

Buckalew Elementary
Each week students have the opportunity to be nominated as a “Student of the Week” when they demonstrate any of the 7 Keys to Success we teach at our school. Students nominated receive a special certificate to take home. They are then entered into a weekly drawing. The Winners are on the announcements and are presented a “Principal’s Medallion”. One student per grade level is drawn weekly. Congratulations to the children that received the award for the week of November 7. They are Lucas Behnke (kindergarten), Isabella Ray, (first grade), Karla Hernandez (second grade), Camille McCabe (third grade) and Kate Tobias (fourth grade).
Bush Elementary
Bush Elementary will be closed November 21-25 for Thanksgiving Holidays.


Collins Intermediate
Thank you to everyone who so generously donated to the Interfaith Food Pantry. Collins Cobra Council was able to collect over 2,000 cans for the pantry. We would not have been able to do this without your generosity.


The students had a wonderful time participating in the Collins First Annual Turkey Trot. Thank you to everyone who came out and cheered on the students as they ran and walked. They had such a great time participating in this event we look forward to seeing this fun event again next year. Thank you to Coach Henry and Coach Raymer for putting this fun event together.


Cox Intermediate
Timberwolf teachers are Recognizing Our Committed Kids. Teachers are keeping their eyes out for students who are making great choices in behavior. Congratulations to the following students, you rock. Creighton Elementary
There is no school From November 21-25 in observance of the Thanksgiving Holiday.


Gifted and Talented nominations are due by December 1. If you have any questions about this process, please contact Mrs. Fossler at 936-709-2900.


Hailey Elementary
Attendance counts for every child every day. Congratulations to Mrs. Butler’s, Mrs. Ellis’, Mrs. Doan’s, Mrs. Cabrera’s, and Mrs. Zientek’s classes on achieving 10 Attendance Rockets for the whole class being on time and staying at school all day!


CISD observes Thanksgiving holidays November 21-25. All schools will be closed this week.


Students can bring aluminum cans, foil, pans, and aluminum computer parts for recycling every Friday morning for our Cash for Cans program, which also helps support our school. Please deliver recyclables to the front porch when arriving at school.


Irons Junior High
Irons Junior High is proud to recognize the following “Students of The Week” for their academic or social achievements.

The Zombie Slayers would like to recognize CJ Smith for his hard work, improved focus, and good grades. Keep it up CJ!

Mrs. Risner would like to nominate Christopher Cruz for being an outstanding citizen and student in Science class.

Ms. Fischer would like to recognize Diya Patel for her outstanding effort in math class.

Mrs. Peel’s science student of the week is Jenna Meyers for being an amazing student and a good neighbor by helping other students in class.

Mrs Chen’s math student of the week is Anaya Ford.

Mrs. Forester’s student of the week is Raven Perrin for always doing the right thing and always going out of her way to help others.

Coach Pell would like to recognize Preslee Young for her hard work in seventh grade science. Preslee is always smiling and eager to come to 1st period to learn!!!
Mrs Mlcak would like to recognize her top three typists from her Computer Science class.
Last week, students took their second typing test.

1st place was Dennis Hom for typing 66 WPM with 99% accuracy.

2nd place was Tyler Hessels for typing 55 wpm with 99% accuracy.

3rd place was Jason Barbor for typing 43 wpm with 98% accuracy.

Outstanding Artist/s of the week from Mrs. Kane are Gracie Pratt, Cassandra Hamil, Malachi Rodriguez, Mary Martinez, and Grace Hebert.

Theater Arts actors of the week are Emma Villareal and Kara Salva.

Cheerleaders of the Week: Eryn Garza, Natalie Ortiz, Megan Edwards and Aspen Whitton.

The Liberty Stars would like to honor their weekly award winners form last week and this week.
Congratulations to Dancers of the Week: Mattie Nillen and Anaya Ford, and Spirit Girls of the Week: Genesis Bullard and Skylar Smith. Way to go ladies!

The Liberty Stars would also like to recognize their Teachers of the Week: Mr. Bautsch and Coach Stuksa. Thank you for all you do for your students!

Jack Calhoun received the prestigious Hitman Award for eighth grade from the Ark Church. The award is given to the most outstanding eighth grade football player that is of high character and academically sound in the classroom. Jack is the epitome of our triple a philosophy. Jack is academically sound, he is Accountable for his actions, and he gives 100% in every Athletic endeavor.

The seventh grade Lady Hawks Star Athlete of the Week is Kiley Weeks.

The 8th grade Lady Hawks Star Athlete of the Week is Kennedy Culbreath.

Reaves Elementary
Reaves welcomed our Veterans with a special breakfast on Friday, November 11.

Rice Elementary
Students will be off the week on November 21 for Thanksgiving.


Friday, December 2 Rice Way Pep Rallies will be held.


Rice fourth grade students will present their music program on Friday, December 9 at 9 a.m.


Saturday, December 10 will be our Rice CYCLE Reading Incentive delivery day.


Our third grade GT students will have an expo in the library on Monday, December 12.


Polar Express Day will be Thursday, December 15.


Thursday, December 15 our third graders will host their culture fair in the library.


Holiday desserts will be enjoyed by each class on Friday, December 16.

Stewart Elementary
Mark your calendar to join us for Movie Night on Friday, December 2. Pizza orders for this event are now being collected.

Tough Elementary
Tuesday, November 8 the Coulson Tough third through sixth grade students participated in a presentation from CHAMPS (Children Against Mines Program). CHAMPS is an educational outreach program that engages students in the global effort to rid the world of landmines. The program raises awareness about landmines and gives students the chance to raise funds and sponsor their own Mine Detection Dog. Coulson Tough has been raising funds for this program over the past few years and hope to sponsor a dog in the near future.


Washington Junior High
Congratulations to Daisy Bejarano, Debby Barba, Raylene Benitez, Abigail Sharp, Nalani Defensor, and Malcolm Craft for making a perfect score in the Solo-Ensemble Contest.
